On 26 May, 2021, the 4th Fixed Star Cup Graduation Project Competition of the Mechanical Education Union of Excellent Engineers was successfully held at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, with the Mechanical Education Union of Excellent Engineers as the host and Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Beijing Jingdiao Technology Group Co., Ltd as co-organizers.

After the letter evaluation of the organizing committee of the competition, a total of 9 projects (including 8 individual projects and 1 team project) of the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (SMAE) were shortlisted for the online preliminary round (150 projects nationwide). After the double-blind review and screening in the preliminary round, a total of 5 SMAE projects (including 4 individual projects and 1 team project) were shortlisted for the final (55 projects nationwide), accounting for almost one-tenth of the total. SMAE teams, led by Chen Chuanhai and Tian Hailong, actively prepared to participate in the final at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Reviewed by experts, they won two bronze prizes, three honorable mentions, and four successful participation awards. Besides, the participating projects were awarded the Best Project of Business Value.

During the preparation and presentation of the Graduation Project Competition, our students worked tirelessly and thoughtfully, and actively communicated with and learned from their peers from other universities to make progress together. Their achievements are not only a comprehensive representation of our students’ high caliber and solid professional foundation, but also a full recognition of SMAE’s concept of “industry-oriented engineering education and industry-education integration” in the new situation. Facing the trend of modern industrial globalization, SMAE will continue to uphold the motto of “simplicity, richness, and pursuit of excellence”, highlight undergraduate graduation projects, encourage and motivate students, and implement the student-centered and output-oriented engineering education philosophy, so as to cultivate more first-class engineering professionals for China.
